Isabella Cotier
- Guido Piovene, visiting the castle. Portrait of the Italian writer Guido Piovene, one of the many thinkers and intellectuals hosted at the castle by Dame Mimina.
- The castle on the hill. Inspired by the archway that crowns the castle entrance, I wanted to create a surreal design that combines the history and the classical yet fantastical architectural elements of the castle. The face is inspired by the imposing sculpture that stands in front of the castle.
- Still life, aromas, ingredients and food pairings. A still life depicting different bottles of wine and champagne. The bottles are accompanied by fruits that recall the aromas and ingredients of the wines, alongside a series of fine dishes to pair them with.
Cigognola Castle through the eyes of Isabella Cotier: inspired by a shared admiration for the values of altruism and humanity, the illustrator’s collection of drawings tells the story, traditions and precious daily moments of the estate.
The founding principle of Cigognola Castle remains respect for its human and natural dimension: recognizing oneself responsible for safeguarding the environment and protecting the rights of people involved in production activities.
The cultural heritage of the castle, which for centuries has established its connection with the territory and its inhabitants, is portrayed by Cotier through the prism of the 21st century and his unique gaze.
Born in London and raised in Florence, Cotier is a people observer: she transforms her subjects into flâneurs, immortalizing their personalities and everyday habits with colorful accents and touches of humor.
Inspiration can come from a family photo, a game of checkers accompanied by a glass of red wine. The drawings bring to the fore spontaneous moments inside the castle and on the estate: the beauty of its architecture alongside the simple gestures with which wine is produced and enjoyed, among aromas, ingredients and gastronomic pairings.
With this collection of works, Isabella Cotier reflects the creative and genuine spirit that has characterized the Castello di Cigognola since its origins.
